For years now, I have been practising yoga on a regular basis. I have always felt that yoga and macrame both have a very important presence for me from a mindfulness sense. They both help me to stop, breathe and really be in the present moment. They both are also great for my mental clarity.
Whenever I do venture to my yoga classes, I have always carried my mat in a handy macrame strap. I made this design up myself years ago, just wanting to find an easier way to carry my yoga mat to class (most of the time I try and solve any problem with macrame haha). At classes I noticed I would get so many compliments about the yoga mat strap - how beautiful and practical it was! Knowing how easy these straps are to make, I immediately knew I had to make a pattern that would help people to create their very own mat strap to take to yoga class. While there are a lot of yoga mat strap on the market now to buy, nothing feels as good as making your very own creation and being able to use it every day!
Now, this pattern is actually super super easy! Even someone who has never done any macrame before would be able to follow along with this pattern. So if you have ever wanted to try to learn macrame, this might just be the perfect project to start with. They are also great to give as gifts, or to use as blanket straps or towel straps on a trip down to the beach.
