Large Macrame Christmas Tree Pattern

Every year at Christmas time now for a while, I have imagined hanging up a large macrame Christmas tree, instead of putting up the standard fake green tree, wrapped in tinsel and covered in lights. I imagined something unique that reflected my personality and passion for macrame.

Well, I finally decided it was time to make that dream a reality! I finally created the life-size macrame Christmas tree i had always imagined. It was a huge task, which took a LOT of planning, time and string! But it was all completely worth it and I am so proud with how the finished piece turned out.

Now I am sharing the pattern for this tree with the world, so we can all have a beautiful macrame Christmas tree to hang in our homes. It will give your Christmas decorations a real WOW factor, and I think it add a luxe-boho vibe to the Christmas decor. Make sure to also check out the time lapse video at the bottom of the page to watch the tree being made in real life.

My large macrame Christmas tree is handmade from natural braided cotton cord. It is designed to be suspended from the roof, much like a giant chandelier or lantern. There are 5 layers, with each layer having a unique arrangement of knotting to create different designs. There are also gaps within some of the layers so you can add Christmas decorations once it is hung up. You can watch a time lapse of me creating this beautiful Christmas tree and follow along step by step as it unfolds.

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas, and here's to finding our peace in creativity!
